Stephanie Trahant, MA, LPC
Stephanie Trahant is a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Virginia and Colorado. A large part of her focus is on relational counseling. In her process of practice, she builds a relationship with the client to help the healing process begin. From there, she focuses on other relationships in the client’s life. She believes that isolation amplifies pain, confusion, and negative self-talk. American psychiatrist Irvin Yalom says that “it is the relationship that heals”, and she believes this to be true.
Presently she counsels adults who want help with the following issues: anxiety and depression, post-abortion stress, military family issues, marriage difficulties, cancer diagnosis, and grief.
Colorado is her home, and she looks for any excuse to talk about the Rocky Mountains, snow skiing, or wide-open spaces. She is blessed with a husband, two daughters, and one stepdaughter, who remind her that laughter and tears are never far apart. In therapy, as in life, she likes to create space for others to find laughter and tears.
One of the achievements she is most proud of is four years of working in college ministry at her home church: preparing and serving a weekly, free, “home-cooked” lunch for students from a nearby engineering college. She was part of the team that saw this ministry grow from 12 students weekly to 400+ students.
