Our licensed clinicians are experienced professionals that provide evidence-based psychotherapy with a distinctly Christian approach.

We want our staff to have an eagerness to expand and grow clinically and relationally and we aim to do this by providing ample opportunities for collaboration and training. Licensed clinicians are expected to work independently and exercise a high level of professionalism and care as they maintain a set, weekly caseload.

Residents and Supervisees have earned a Master’s degree in the mental health field and are working to obtain the required clinical and supervision hours needed to obtain Virginia state licensure as an LPC, LMFT, or LCSW.

All clinical mental health services provided by Residents and Supervisees are done under the direct supervision of a licensed clinician who must review and sign all of their service documentation.

Every week, our Residents and Supevisess attend 1-hour group supervision and 1-hour individual supervision to help develop their clinical skills and provide support to help them succeed.

For graduate students that are working towards completing their graduate degree in mental health, we offer limited Intern and Practicum positions to assist them in obtaining direct and indirect clinical hours that are required of their degree.

Practicum students with Light Counseling will:

  • See at least 5 clients per week
  • Provide 5 hours of administrative work each week
  • Attend a 1-hour individual supervision
  • Attend a 1-hour group supervision
  • Attend 1-hour staff meeting every month.

Additional individual supervision is also available as needed we want our interns and practicum students to be successful in obtaining their required clinical and supervision hours toward their degree.

Intern students with Light Counseling will:

  • See at least 10 clients per week
  • Provide 5 hours of administrative work each week
  • Attend a 1-hour individual supervision
  • Attend a 1-hour group supervision
  • Attend 1-hour staff meeting every month.

Leadership Team

Our Leadership Team aims to ensures we are delivering exceptional and evidence-based services to all members of our community. We accomplish this by focusing on client care and outcome, developing our team’s skills, and providing support and spiritual encouragement to our team.

Competitive Pay

All members of our team are classified as W2 employees in compliance with regulations from the federal Department of Labor and Virginia Department of Taxation.

This means we cover payroll taxes, unemployment taxes, and several other additional taxes and expenses.
