Alyssa Penrod, LMFT

Alyssa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who received her master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Over the past 5 years she has gained experience counseling in the school setting and private practice working with children, youth, adults, couples, and families. Alyssa has a background in both Emotion Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy theoretical orientations. You can expect counseling with Alyssa to include learning new techniques while honing the strengths, values, and resources you already have to navigate whatever challenge you are currently experiencing. From a compassionate stance and with clinician direction she will create the safety and insight needed to encourage growth. Alyssa's background in Marriage and Family Therapy also incorporates a wholistic approach to work toward lasting change. When not counseling, Alyssa can be found spoiling her beloved cat, tending to her copious amount of house plants, walking one of Lynchburg’s many trails or planning her next road trip.
