Psychological Testing

Psychological testing is a method used to assess and evaluate an individual’s cognitive abilities, personality traits, emotional states, and other psychological characteristics. This process involves administering a battery of standardized tests and measures that are designed to help professionals better understand a client’s strengths, weaknesses, and potential psychological issues.

Psychological testing can be helpful for clients in several ways. First, it can provide a more accurate diagnosis of mental health conditions and can help clinicians tailor treatment plans to fit their clients’ specific needs. Second, it can help identify specific areas of strength and weakness, allowing clients to focus on developing new skills and overcoming obstacles. Third, psychological testing can help clients gain a deeper understanding of their own personality traits, emotional patterns, and cognitive abilities, which can aid in personal growth and self-improvement. Overall, psychological testing can be a valuable tool for clients seeking to better understand themselves and improve their mental and emotional well-being.

Our team of psychologists will administer appropriate psychological testing and will discuss the findings of the test to better understand your concerns and what might be the next best steps. Below are common psychological testing topics (our psychologists may not be able to provide all of these tests):

  • Personality/Mental Illness Profiles
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • OCD
  • Eating Disorders
  • ADHD
  • Autism/Aspbergurs Screening
  • Trauma
  • Substance Abuse

At Light Counseling, our team is here to help you overcome life’s challenges with evidence-based practices and a distinctly Christian approach. We offer mental health services primarily to clients in the state of Virginia; however, some of our clinicians are licensed in other states and may provide online telehealth services for clients living in those states. Additionally, all of our services are covered by most private insurance companies and Medicaid.

The first step to start the counseling journey with us is by submitting an Intake Form. This form allows our team to collect key information about you and your needs so our team may match you with the clinician who will best meet your needs and preferences. All services are provided by appointment only.
