Emily Hilton, PhD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Emily Hilton is a clinical psychologist who provides therapy and psychological assessment services for adults in Virginia. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Walden University in August 2025 and completed her doctoral internship at Centra Health in Lynchburg, Virginia. During her internship training, Dr. Hilton gained extensive experience in the assessment and diagnosis of autism in adults as well as evaluating memory concerns in older adults. Through this work, she developed a strong interest in psychological assessment and helping individuals better understand their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. At Light Counseling, Dr. Hilton provides therapy for adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns. She recognizes that choosing to begin therapy is often a brave and meaningful step, and she strives to create a supportive space where individuals feel heard, understood, and respected as they work toward greater well-being. Her assessment services include: • Adult autism evaluations • ADHD evaluations for adults • Memory evaluations for older adults experiencing cognitive concerns • General psychological assessments for diagnostic clarification Dr. Hilton’s approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and focused on helping individuals gain meaningful insight that can guide treatment, personal growth, and next steps. Outside of her professional work, Dr. Hilton enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her dog, Ella. She enjoys hiking for the magnificent views, playing board games, cooking, and finding new ways to be present and engaged in everyday life.
