Clarence McCray, PsyD, Resident in Counseling

I’m Dr. Clarence McCray II, a Resident in Counseling practicing under supervision at Light Counseling. I hold a doctorate in Behavioral Health Leadership from Walden University, where my capstone, “Post-Pandemic Strategic Planning for Urban Behavioral Health Organizations,” explored how the Baldrige Performance Excellence Framework can guide behavioral health providers in embedding trauma-informed care and navigating post-pandemic challenges. I also hold a master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden, a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lynchburg College, and an associate degree in General Studies. Currently, I’m completing my MBA to further strengthen leadership capacity within mental health systems.

Over the past decade, I’ve held roles across community counseling, peer recovery, program management, and interdisciplinary team supervision. I’ve supported teens, adults, families, and returning citizens leading recovery groups and collaborating with courts, schools, hospitals, primary care providers, Community Services Boards (CSBs), and social services to advocate holistic and equitable care. My work supports not only direct clients but also the systems and agencies I serve.

I specialize in helping individuals and families navigate trauma, substance use, identity development, reentry, and life transitions. My experience spans community-based settings, crisis response teams, and supervision of peer support staff. I also help train and mentor counseling, social work, and psychiatric nursing interns from universities including Liberty, Walden, the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and Longwood. Supporting new professionals reinforces my commitment to collaboration, equity, and long-term impact in the field.

In the therapy room, I take a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach. I blend CBT, narrative therapy, and peer-informed practices with a conversational, respectful style. Therapy with me isn’t about ticking boxes—it’s about creating space to explore your story, your struggles, and your capacity for growth.

Research shows that strategic, compassionate leadership reduces clinician burnout and improves client outcomes. That’s what I aim for—not just in clinical care, but in the systems, I help build and support.

If you’re ready to do the work, I’d be honored to walk that path with you.

Marie St. Louis, LMHC, LPC

Marie St. Louis, LMHC, LPC

Most of my life has revolved around helping people be the best versions of themselves, in one capacity or another. As a licensed mental health provider, I have several years of professional experience helping clients successfully navigate a variety of mental and behavioral health challenges (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, addiction, loss, relationship conflict, anger, and other life-controlling issues). I collaborate closely with clients to develop attainable treatment goals and explore practical, effective coping strategies to help achieve these goals. This leads to a more robust life that reflects the client’s core values.

As a trauma-responsive counselor, my passion is to help clients heal and begin living victorious lives. I provide one-on-one individual psychotherapy, couples counseling, as well as group therapy. My therapeutic approach centers primarily on using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a framework in helping clients better understand their inner world and use that understanding to overcome life challenges; however, treatment is always tailored to meet client needs.

Life offers many unexpected twists and turns, oftentimes leaving us overwhelmed with distressing emotions and undesirable behaviors that produce brokenness within our own selves and our relationships. Integrating faith and clinical practice, I welcome you into a judgment-free therapeutic relationship to safely discover, explore, learn, and grow into the individual God created you to be – an overcomer!

Matthew Scott, LMFT

Matthew Scott, LMFT

Hi, I’m Matthew. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who believes that healing happens in the context of safe, genuine relationships. For more than 18 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and children through seasons of challenge, growth, and transformation.

My path into this work has taken me through a variety of settings—clinical mental health programs, residential treatment facilities, home‑visiting services, outpatient hospitals, and Christian counseling centers. Each experience has shaped the way I show up with clients: grounded, compassionate, curious, and deeply respectful of the stories people carry.

I spent two years co-leading a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program for adolescents and adults in New York State, helping clients learn practical skills for managing emotions, navigating stress, and building healthier relationships. I love DBT because it blends structure with humanity—it gives people tools while honoring their lived experience.
My relational approach is also shaped by my roots. I grew up as a pastor’s son in Upstate New York, watching my father serve our community with radical genuineness, acceptance, and a nonjudgmental presence. Those early experiences taught me that people thrive when they feel seen, valued, and welcomed exactly as they are. That spirit continues to guide my work today.

As an LMFT licensed in both Virginia and New York, I work systemically—meaning I look at the whole picture: your mind, your body, your relationships, your history, and the environments that have shaped you. I believe our stories matter, and that understanding where we come from helps us move toward where we want to go.
In therapy, I draw from CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Insight‑Oriented and Psychodynamic approaches, Attachment and Family Systems Theory in relation to kids and couples work. But more than anything, I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and empowered to pursue a life that feels meaningful and aligned with your values.
If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, honesty, and a steady presence, I’d be honored to walk with you.

Victoria Jacob, MA, Resident in Counseling

Victoria Jacob, MA, Resident in Counseling

Victoria Jacob is grateful that all the seemingly random paths in her life have led her to pursue counseling full-time. With all that she has learned as a foundation, Victoria looks forward to teaching others about some of the amazing therapeutic tools that exist to heal from pain and experience holistic health. Victoria knows being a human is hard, messy, and sometimes painful. Brokenness can make Jesus’ promises of things like abundant life (John 10:10) and overwhelming peace (Philippians 4:7) seem almost laughable at times. Yet she believes there must be a way to reconcile the harshness of the world, and the promises found in Scripture. Victoria has found healing often begins with bravely entering the brokenness of our lives and grappling with the heartbreak of could have been. She wants her clients to know the Lord has been there the whole time, and He goes before them. She believes when people need a little help along the way, a counselor can be a phenomenal companion. Wherever your journey takes you and whether our paths ever cross, Victoria hopes you discover enough healing to experience the truth of God’s promises within your unique story.
